Key Figures and Fiscal Stability

The new budget amounts to €187,732,919.75, which represents a significant increase of 11.38% over the previous year. This budget is characterised by firm fiscal moderation:

  • Taxes and fees frozen: The CPI update is not applied.

While other municipalities are increasing the tax burden, Torrevieja remains committed to improving public services without raising taxes. The accounts comply with budgetary stability and spending rules.

  • Families and the Elderly: €300,000 is allocated to family reconciliation and maternity, and €400,000 in direct aid to pensioners.
  • Economic Boost: Support for retailers, hoteliers and entrepreneurs, including €220,000 for business start-ups and €170,000 to compensate for the inconvenience caused by the works at the Mercado de Abastos market.

New Social Aid

Three new lines of aid are being incorporated, expanding the scope of social policies:

  • 50,000 euros to support children with cancer and their families in rehabilitation.
  • 30,000 euros for physical activity and rehabilitation programmes for people with neurodegenerative diseases.
  • €200,000 in aid for youth emancipation, facilitating access to rental housing.

Record Investment and Environmental Commitment

Public investment has reached a record high of €46.7 million, focused on improving infrastructure and public spaces.

  • Strategic Projects: Includes interventions from the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) co-financed with European ERDF funds to regenerate neighbourhoods such as Acequión and San Roque.
  • Environment: More than €9 million for the maintenance of green areas, the creation of the new Alto de la Casilla Park (a future green lung) and urban renaturalisation projects.
  • Modernisation: Measures are planned for energy efficiency, digitalisation, improvement of public transport and renovation of basic infrastructure.

Councillor Domingo Paredes concluded that this is a budget that ‘unites and projects the development of a dynamic, supportive, modern and constantly growing city’.
